Why I hate the Republican party

In case you have not seen it, there was video released over the weekend of a Congressman from North Carolina collaring a couple of college punks that were trying to bait him into some kind of reaction.  You can watch the video here:

Now, I am no fan of Bob Etheridge or his politics, but is this really what the Republican party is spending it’s money on today?  Ok, maybe it wasn’t the party that was doing it ( officially ), but this is just a complete joke.  I can’t believe conservative websites are actually trying to make something out of this incident, and make political hay.  The headline in the local paper here in Raleigh this morning read “Video Shames Etheridge, galvanizes Republicans.”  If that is true, then I am so glad I am not a member of the party anymore.
If some guy came up to me and jammed a camera in my face, and wouldn’t tell me where they were from, I would probably react the same way he did.  We seem to think that because someone is in the public eye that we can kick them in the groin and not expect them to react.  Grow the hell up!  Maybe Rep. Etheridge should have just kept walking, or maybe he should have just said ‘No Comment.”  But, I am kind of glad he didn’t.  I am glad he got pissed off and gave that college punk a good old fashioned talking to.  Can’t you just see him doing that to one of his kids when they mouthed off to him?
We have oil spilling into the Gulf of Mexico, a banking system that is utterly corrupt, an economy that continues to teeter on going over the cliff, and this is what we are focusing on as conservatives?
So, Rep. Etheridge, don’t apologize for what you did.  I, for one, am glad that you just said and did what felt right at the time.  It has, oddly enough, increased my respect for you immeasurably.  I probably won’t ever say this again, so enjoy it.
