Programming by teaching – Dr. Guillaume Bouchard

The future of programming is not teaching everyone how to code, which is the current and popular path.  The future of programming is, I am convinced, teaching computers how to better understand human instruction. It is the only way to scale creativity and progress quickly enough.

In the video below, Dr. Guillaume Bouchard talks about this future. The implications of his research, and others in this space, are simply massive.

His mission, as he states in his presentation is:

“Enabling computers to understand human language so humans don’t have to understand computer language.”

If it all sounds too far-fetched, think about the fact that five years ago it was not possible to be driving down the road, yammering into your phone about what you needed it to do, and having it do it.
