What Are the Three Things You’re Watching Every Day?
What are the three things (or less) you have to get right today for your company to win?
Write them down on a scratch piece of paper just to prove it to yourself.
Does everyone else who works with you also know what those three things are?
Go ahead, ask around.
Are you publicly sharing how the company’s doing on those three things every single day?
Is there a reason that you’re not? Are you concerned about being radically transparent with your team?
It’s OK to answer no to these questions today, but it’s not OK tomorrow.
If you are struggling to gain momentum as a product team, try clarifying exactly what the goals are that the company’s shooting at and sharing how you’re doing, all the time, against those goals. Many times people in your company aren’t maliciously missing the goals.
They may not know what they are.
