July Must-Haves
Each month I’m going to provide a list of resources (podcasts, talks, blog posts, books, music etc.) that I consider to be must-haves. There’s no doubt that you’ll see recurring themes or resources throughout these posts.
Check out June and May’s list if you’re just joining the party.
Here’s my list of July 2016 Must-Haves
- Justin Wilcox’s Customer Dev Labs – Day in and day out one of the best resources on the internet for customer discovery, and most of it’s free
- Inside Intercom – Tremendous blog on product development. I read every post.
- Amazon Echo – Every now and then you buy something and say “Yup, that’s the future.” This is one of them. I’ve had it for a few months now and it’s where we’re all headed. It’s the best example of AI for humans that I’ve personally touched, save for the Tesla self-driving car.
- The Problem with the Solution – Thought-provoking discussion of the treatment of mental illness, and by proxy, our relentless pursuit of solutions to every problem. DO NOT SKIP OVER THIS!
- The Way I Heard It with Mike Rowe – If you were a fan of Paul Harvey back in the day, or even if you have no idea who Paul Harvey is, Mike Rowe’s short story podcast about real people is fantastic.
- Technology’s Moral Imperative – One of the best articles on the promise and disappointment of technology I’ve read in a long time. Courtesy of Azeem Ahzar (from last month’s list)
- Mr. Robot – I don’t even know where to start on this series. It’s so good. Yes, some of it is unrealistic. Who cares? You can watch it on Amazon Prime Video if you’ve got that.
- Dope – One of the more unique and interesting movies I’ve seen in a while. Really clever storyline and the acting is really good. And it has Bitcoin in it, so it has to be cool.
- Ben Rector – I’m a sucker for piano players who can write a great song and sing. I was a huge Billy Joel fan growing up, I’ll go see Bruce Hornsby any time he’s remotely close by. Ben Rector is in the same class.
Hope you enjoy this month’s list! I’m already working on next month. It’s going to be stellar.
