September Must-Haves

Each month I’m going to provide a list of resources (podcasts, talks, blog posts, books, music etc.) that I consider to be must-haves. There’s no doubt that you’ll see recurring themes or resources throughout these posts. I publish my Must-Haves on the closest Tuesday or Friday to the 15th of every month.

Check out AugustJulyJune and May’s list if you’re just joining the party.

Here’s my list of September 2016 Must-Haves

  • Ego is the Enemy by Ryan Holliday – Good, quick read on how to not drink the Kool Aid of your own greatness and focus on the work in front of you. I recommend the audio version so you can listen to it while riding down the road, etc.
  • The 10X Rule by Grant Cardone – While this book is a bit much at times, and definitely “salesy”, the core principles in the book have been game changing for me personally. You’re going to be tempted to not finish it, but power through to the end. There’s great stuff to be learned here about setting big goals rather than small ones, along with effort required to do anything meaningful.
  • TOA16 Keynote with Yancey Strickler of Kickstarter – Excellent, excellent talk on building a great company, not compromising along the way, and the harmful effects of monoculture. About 25 minutes and well worth it.
  • Juliana Crispo’s Startup Sales Bootcamp – I’ve started taking the email course and am looking forward to the more in-depth course once that’s done. I’ve had two conversations with Juliana and she’s amazing. If you struggle with what makes good sales reps good, this is a great place to jump in.
