September 2017 Must-Haves

Every month, on or near the 15th, I publish a list of blogs, podcasts, books, products or anything else I consider to be a must-have or must-do.

This month’s list is one that I really love. I hope you will as well. Enjoy and let me know what rings true for you from all of these.

  • Om Malik’s interview with Bruno Cucinelli – I don’t know where to start with this, or where to end. Bruno Cucinelli makes high-end cashmere clothing, but his wisdom and outlook on life make me jealous. This is worth sitting back with a nice beverage and reading it a number of times.
  • Max Anderson’s Weekend Reader – Max Anderson writes a great weekly newsletter exploring one topic in depth with typically five articles that pertain to the subject matter. Topics are very widely varying, including why we lie, white nationalism, startup studios, the future of work (where I read the above article) and much more. Highly highly recommend.
  • Elon Musk Bio – I’ve been listening to this book for the last 4-6 weeks. I’m not a huge fan of Elon Musk, the person, but there’s little question he’s the most prolific inventor of the modern age. Musk seems driven to the point of insanity at times with pulling off these monumental missions around space travel, electric cars, high speed land travel and more. You’ll be shaking your head in amazement and, at times, disgust. But it’s a must-read
  • Books by Frederick Backman – You’ve likely read or heard of A Man Called Ove. I loved that book and have subsequently read two others, My Grandmother Said to Tell You She’s Sorry and Britt-Marie Was Here. I liked all of them and they’re really easy to read.
