"I really hate formality. When we are born, there is no formality. When we die, there is no formality. When we enter hospital, there is no formality. So formality is just artificial. It just creates additional barriers. So irrespective of our beliefs, we are all the same human beings. We all want a happy life.
"

The Dalai Lama and Bishop Desmond Tutu spent a week together at the Dalai Lama’s retreat in northern India and the author recorded all of the conversations. I liked this book because it gave an inside glimpse into two of the world’s most influential spiritual leaders of the last 30+ years. It was also the story of two very good friends re-uniting for one of the last times in their lives.

The dialog on all topics is rich, and the perspective and wisdom from both men is incredibly meaningful.
